  • Extreme Weather Notice

As a Trust running special schools, the health, safety, and well-being of our pupils is always our absolute priority. During periods of extreme heat, this commitment becomes even more critical; many of our children have additional needs that make them particularly vulnerable to severe weather.

While we work tirelessly to keep our school environments safe and comfortable, extreme heat poses serious health risks, including dehydration, heat exhaustion, and respiratory distress. High temperatures also impact our staff. Classrooms and hygiene rooms that become excessively hot can lead to rapid heat exhaustion, which directly compromises our ability to safely care for our pupils.

To prevent these risks and ensure everyone’s safety, there may be times when we must make the difficult decision to close specific classes or the whole school. This is always a last resort, enacted only when indoor temperatures or safety risks become unmanageable.

Should any closures or adaptations be necessary, we will communicate them to you as early as possible. Thank you for your continued support, understanding, and partnership in keeping our school community safe.

    Best wishes
